There are few things in this world that hip-hop superstar and business mogul Shawn ‘Jay-Z’ Carter loves more than making music. Yet when it comes to his family, more specifically his four-month-old daughter, Blue Ivy Carter, the artist’s goal is to make her his first priority, which is why he’s taking a minor break and pushing music aside … only for a little bit.

Nowadays his passion for the art that made him famous will have to stand behind Blue Ivy, perhaps the one thing that’s nearer and dearer to his heart. Recently, Jay-Z told Billboard, “I really just want to hang out with my daughter.”

It seems that with newly adding the role of a father to his already lengthy resume—one that includes hip-hop legend, husband, businessman, songwriter, entrepreneur, celebrity, producer, actor and even a few others—Jay-Z felt that some things are more important and deserving of greater focus right now. “I thought I would be inspired to have all these new feelings to talk about,” he tells Billboard. “I want to enjoy this time for what it is.”

And what it is is not only being a new father but also taking the lead as the curator of the Made In America music festival, one being sponsored by Budweiser. The festival will hold 28 different performers ranging in genres from hip-hop to dance to rock to R&B.

But don’t worry, something tells us that Jay-Z will be back in the recording room in no time. “I’m sure that bug to get back in the studio will come back at some point,” he says. We can't wait!
