"Rap is thinking out loud," rapper Jay Z (no more hyphen) says in the trailer for 'Picasso Baby: A Performance Art Film,' which premieres on Friday, Aug. 2 at 11PM ET on HBO and follows the Hov's appearance on 'Real Time With Bill Maher.' Make a mental note or calendar reminder now for a double dose of Jay this Friday.

The rapper's six-hour performance of the 'Magna Carta Holy Grail' track 'Picasso Baby' at NYC's Pace Gallery is the stuff of legends, and it was captured and chronicled for this HBO doc.

He continues, "You put your fears, your vulnerabilities and your insecurities to music. Concerts are pretty much performance art and a smaller venue is a bit more intimate so you feel the energy of the people."

In this clip, Blue Ivy's daddy connects with actor Alan Cumming, director Judd Apatow and performance artist Marina Abramovic, the latter of which has been seen hobknobbing with Lady Gaga.
