Actress Julia Louis-Dreyfus announced she's been diagnosed with breast cancer.

The Veep star and eight-time Emmy winner broke the news in a tweet posted Wednesday (September 28):

Louis-Dreyfus learned about the diagnosis the day after she took home the Emmy for best actress in a comedy series earlier this month, The Hollywood Reporter reports.

Despite the health battle she faces, production on the upcoming final season of HBO's Veep will go on as planned.

"Our love and support go out to Julia and her family at this time," the network said. "We have every confidence she will get through this with her usual tenacity and undaunted spirit, and look forward to her return to health and to HBO for the final season of Veep."

Louis-Dreyfus' eight individual Emmys tie her with Cloris Leachman for the most all-time Emmy Awards won by a single actress.
