So what did Kanye do at the VMAs? Well, after walking out to a crowd that erupted with "Yeezy!" chants, West debuted a new video for The Life of Pablo track "Fade" (available exclusively on TIDAL) which featured sexy choreography from GOOD Music artist Teyana Taylor in an empty gym, a steamy shower scene with Taylor's fiancé/NBA star Iman Shumpert, and a very...surreal ending, co-starring their infant daughter Iman Tayla Shumpert Jr. and some sheep.

First, though, Kanye delivered a signature lengthy speech, offering myriad insights.

"I am Kanye west, and that feels really great to say especially this year," he began before moving to explain his video for "Famous," which was nominated for Video of The Year.

"Later this night, 'Famous' might lose to Beyonce, but I can't be mad," he said before defending the controversial project. "It was an expression of our now. Our fame right now. Us on the inside of the TV. The audacity to put Anna Wintour next to Donald Trump...This is fame, bro. We came over in the same boat, now we all in the same bed. Well, maybe different boats."

He also tried to offer a bit of perspective, stressing that any supposed feud with Taylor Swift is unimportant.

"Last week, there were 22 people murdered in Chicago," he said before shrugging off the hyped drama. "Bro, I love all of y'all. That's why I called her!"

"We are undeniably the influence, the thought leaders," he concluded to a crowd.

Last year, Kanye delivered a speech that seemed unmatachable while accepting an award as the show's Video Vanguard honoree. First, he set a 2020 Presidential bid into motion. Then, he offered some pointed criticism of the world of entertainment.

"I will die for the art, for what I believe in, and the art ain’t always polite," he said. "Y’all might be thinking fright now, did he smoke something before he came out here? The answer is yes, I rolled up a little something. I’m not dead y’all. I don’t know what’s going to happen tonight, I don’t know what’s going to happen tomorrow bro, but all I can say to my artists, my fellow artists, just worry about how you feel at the time. Just worry about how you feel."

TMZ first reported that MTV was handing the mic over to Kanye for four minutes to do with what he pleased.
