An Emmy distinction actor Kevin Spacey was slated to receive at the forthcoming 2017 International Emmys has been rescinded after reports surfaced that Spacey allegedly assaulted a teenage actor in 1986.

The International Emmy Awards tweeted Monday night (October 30) that "The International Academy has announced that in light of recent events it will not honor Kevin Spacey with the 2017 Intl Emmy Founders Award."

Actor Anthony Rapp told Buzzfeed News on Sunday that Spacey — then 26 — tried to force himself upon Rapp nearly 30 years ago, when point Rapp was 14. "He was trying to seduce me," Rapp said. "I don't know if I would have used that language. But I was aware that he was trying to get with me sexually."

Spacey responded with a tweet that enraged many social media users, in which he seemed to conflate potential sexual assault with coming out. "No no no no no! You do not get to 'choose' to hide under the rainbow! Kick rocks!" Wanda Sykes wrote in response, while Dan Savage tweeted "Nope to Kevin Spacey's statement. Nope. There's no amount of drunk or closeted that excuses or explains away assaulting a 14-year-old child."

The 2017 International Emmys will take place on November 20, 2017 in New York City.
