Lorde Thinks Cardi B Was Snubbed at the Grammys
Cardi B is up for two awards at the 2018 Grammys but according to Lorde, the New York rapper should have earned another nomination.
During an interview with Billboard, the singer was asked to name which artists she believed should have been nominated for Grammys. "Oh, f---! Cardi B should have gotten a nomination in one of those big categories," Lorde said. "She kind of defined 2017."
While the "Bodak Yellow" rapper is up for Best Rap Song and Best Rap Performance, Lorde is most likely referring to categories such as Song of the Year, Record of the Year and Best New Artist.
Elsewhere in the interview, the Melodrama singer touched on the #MeToo movement, saying men now have to be aware of their "misogynistic biases" and must re-examine their understanding of consent.
"It’s the kind of thing that only comes about when people are brave enough to share and really bring these dudes down," Lorde added. "I think every woman is like, 'Oh, my God, it’s happening.'"
Lorde's sophomore album, Melodrama, is up for Album of the Year at the upcoming awards. The singer will go up against Childish Gambino, JAY-Z, Kendrick Lamar and Bruno Mars for the award.
In related news, Lorde was recently forgiven after cancelling her Tel Aviv show due to political protest. Following the announcement of her cancellation, the singer received backlash from some people in Israel, but was later forgiven by concert promoter Eran Ariella, who said, "We forgive her."
