Despite earlier reports indicating that NeNe Leakes would not be returning to the current season of Real Housewives of Atlanta, it seems she’s had a change of heart.

According to TMZ the (not-so-)former cast member surprised the rest of the cast when she showed up (presumably uninvited?) to their retreat in Jamaica. The site goes on to report that no one had any idea she’d show up, leaving a number of them speechless.

Apparently producers got in touch with NeNe begging her to return to the show, because the storylines were in desperate need of more excitement. NeNe reportedly accepted their offer because they’re paying her a fair amount of money and the scheduling doesn’t conflict with her new game show.

We reported on NeNe’s departure back in June, when she told PEOPLE, "This was definitely a hard decision for me. Me and my husband [Gregg Leakes] have been going back and forth on it for weeks now. But my contract is up and I just think this is the right time. This is my opportunity to spread my wings and do different things.”

She continued, saying, "I feel a weight has been lifted off of my shoulders…There were times when I was a target. I won’t miss the negativity."

But NeNe also vaguely foreshadowed her imminent return when she said, "I’m not saying I’m gone forever. I’ll probably pop up and play with those girls every now and then.”

It seems the future is now. NeNe’s episodes are set to air toward the end of the season.
