E3 2017 kicks off this weekend, and with it comes all the news, previews and details on what lies ahead for the next 12 months in video games. With that in mind, we've put together a collection of predictions for what we hope to see from Nintendo, the Switch and the 3DS at this year's show.

Nintendo has already promised that the focus at E3 2017 will be on games arriving within the next year; anyone hoping for a glimpse of 2018's offerings will be waiting until the year draws to a close. While that might seem strange given how other companies often show off titles that are two or three years away from release, Nintendo is currently in a position where it needs to show the power of its current catalog for the Switch rather than tease what's to come. Bluntly put: They can't just rest on The Legend of Zelda forever!

That said, fans of the Nintendo 3DS are just as likely to receive a first look at new games coming this year, like the recently announced Pokemon Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon. Beyond that though, it's been a rather quiet year for the handheld system, so there should be some grand surprises in store next week. (Whether that rumored Mario & Luigi game comes to fruition remains to be seen, but we can hope.)

Aside from Nintendo's first-party priorities, third-party support for the Wii U hasn't been all that spectacular, so it would be great to see more partnerships like Bethesda bear some fruit for the Switch.

We'll be live on the floor at E3 this year watching and playing whatever Nintendo has lined up. Hopefully what the Big N brings gives Switch owners some hope, and gives those who are waiting for more than just a handful of games a reason to make the leap to Nintendo's latest console.
