For as long as we've been surfing the web, we've been discovering and creating new memes for future generations to study. Once in a great while a meme comes along that defies all logic, and presents those who've witnessed its glory with questions as to whether or not it was worth it to create something just because you could.

"One Thicc Bih" is just that kind of meme.

Memes flit in and out of public consciousness so quickly these days, it's hard to take any new contender very seriously. With so many social networks vying for your attention, each cluttered with whatever the zeitgeist is obsessed with in that moment, it takes a truly intrepid bit of memetic creativity to transcend the likes of Tumblr, Twitter, Reddit, and Instagram all at once.

The great things about memes is that they spring from nowhere as often as they spring from moments of pop culture infamy. The "One Thicc Bih" meme should be considered one of the latter, as it exploded onto the scene when someone creatively tapped Ditty.it, a music clip generator from 2015, to fashion some humorously illicit lyrics just a few weeks ago.

Ditty.it is available on Android and iOS, but unless you've been actively searching for Ditty mixes (or following TMZ on Twitter), it's unlikely you've come across any in your day-to-day interneting. You've been missing out, as the auto-tuning app can be quite fun to fool around with independent of your meme-making adventures. While the versions of the "Thicc Bih" meme use the default, unlicensed music available, there are some tracks from artists like The Weeknd, Fetty Wap, and John Williams to make your own Thicc claims.

They don't quite have the same punch (and they come at a price), especially because Ditty.it's default is actually built around singing the lyrics, "Tell us what's Thicc, Tell us what's Thicc." The "Good Day" track used in the meme definitely has an advantage over other beats. However, the different tracks can be reworked to say whatever you want in the same rhythm as the song you're sampling. And I do mean whatever you you type (provided the licensed song doesn't have a profanity filter).

According to Buzzfeed, there has been a bit of a surge in Ditty use since the meme cropped up, and that's certainly true. We've noticed more and more that people on Twitter and Tumblr have been sharing the original and their own takes on "One Thicc Bih" more often these past few weeks. Some people aren't even posting video clips, they're just tweeting out slightly remixed lyrics without any of the app's extravagance. Part of that lies in what the lyrics are actually saying, which might be a mystery to the uniformed. A "thicc bih" is more commonly known as a "thick b---h," and the juxtaposition of seeing Mr. Krabs referred to as a "thicc bih"... well, I'm not going to explain the whole joke to you. That would ruin it completely.

As to the "krussy" part of the track, that is a portmanteau for "thrussy." I'll leave you to figure out where that came from all on your own. It shouldn't be hard to Google. Just don't do it at work. In the meantime, you can safely enjoy most of the Ditty.it memes since they don't get explicitly rowdy on their own.
