R. Kelly is being criminally investigated in Georgia following the airing of Lifetime's Surviving R. Kelly docuseries, according to a TMZ report.

Sources linked to the case claim the Fulton County District Attorney's Office has launched an investigation into allegations against the singer in the show. The investigation was reportedly launched in the last few days as a result of stories shared during Surviving R. Kelly.

Investigators are said to have been reaching out to survivors who appeared in the project. TMZ confirmed authorities spoke to Asante McGee, who allegedly escaped R. Kelly's home.

An attorney for the family of Joycelyn Savage, another accuser, was contacted by Cynthia Nwokocha, Chief Investigator in the case. The lawyer is said to be in full cooperation.

Authorities are hopeful they can get contact information from others who lived in R. Kelly's Atlanta home or know what took place there. They were reportedly overwhelmed with calls about the musician once the docuseries began airing.

The District Attorney hasn't made comment about the investigation at this time.
