Stacey Dash, Black History Month Opponent, Let Go From Fox News
No alternative facts here: Stacey Dash, an actress-turned-pundit who's famously dismissed Black History Month — has been let go from Fox News, The Hollywood Reporter has confirmed. And Twitter kind of loves it.
Dash, who has appeared on the network infrequently since 2014, hasn't actually filmed a segment since September 2016, which is when the network originally decided against renewing her contract. Fox aimed to keep news of her dismissal quiet, THR adds.
Dash, a vocal supporter of Donald Trump, incited several firestorms within the black community in 2016. During a January 2016 segment on Fox & Friends, she dismissed the need of Black History Month, BET and the BET Awards, insisting each represented a double standard that unfairly catered only to people of color.
"Either we want to have segregation or integration, and if we don’t want segregation, then we need to get rid of channels like BET and the BET Awards and the Image Awards, where you’re only awarded if you’re black," she said.
Dash later called out Jesse Williams in July for voicing support for his fellow black actors during a speech at the BET Awards. Oh, and for good measure, she's also said that members of the transgender community should consider peeing in bushes if they're barred from using the bathroom that most closely aligns with their identities.
So weird Twitter didn't have much sympathy for Dash's during this tough time...
