Whether Baauer goes down as a one-hit wonder novelty artist or moves on to sustain a long-term career could be determined in part by what happens over the next few months, as the Brooklyn DJ (born Harry Bauer Rodrigues) builds on the success of the viral sensation 'Harlem Shake' and tries to show off the rest of his music to the world.

His next chance to do that comes during SXSW, when he performs three late-night DJ sets. Baauer has been DJing for years and he was already starting to establish himself before 'Harlem Shake' with his remixes for artists like the Prodigy and No Doubt.

Baauer is loving the audience reaction to his hit song. He says, “I think it caught on because it’s a goofy, fun song. But at the base of it, it’s my song and it’s making people want to dance. That’s the best feeling in the world to me.”
