The first two contestants on Monday night's episode of 'The Voice' gave performances that rate amongst the best seen thus far on season two of the NBC series. Cee Lo Green encored with the best coach performance of the year. His team's version of Martha and the Vandellas 'Dancing in the Street' was wild without being weird.

Perhaps the strangest part of the song was that it featured the normally smooth-topped hip-hop star with a head full of hair. He was aiming for 60's Brit with his white rimmed sunglasses and a cherry red jacket. The result was more a marriage of Austin Powers and actor Ving Rhames, but it worked for him.

Green and his two female contestants were introduced by host Carson Daly, who played along by acting the part of enthusiastic 50s television host. The trio remained inside a giant black and white television until Jamar Rogers and James Massone appeared from off stage.

The entire song was just good fun with all four contestants, including Cheesa and Juliet Simms, playing off each other without trying to top their competition. There was an awkward moment between Simms and Massone (women may be hot for the Boston boy, but Simms apparently isn't one of them) but otherwise they group seems to genuinely enjoy each other's company.
