Avril Lavigne

Seventeen-year-old Avril Lavigne took the charts by storm in 2002 with her pop-punk songs and rebellious sense of style. Born in 1984 in Ontario, Canada, the singer-songwriter won a contest to perform on stage with Shania Twain at 15 and signed her first recording contract at 16. Debut album ‘Let Go,’ went multiplatinum and featured the smash singles ‘Complicated’ and ‘Sk8ter Boi.’ Her musical success continued with her subsequent full-length releases, ‘Under My Skin’ and ‘The Best Damn Thing.’ A short-lived break from recording and touring saw Avril pursuing acting opportunities and succesful turns with clothing and fragrance lines. Her marriage to Sum 41 lead singer Deryck Whibley in 2006 ended in divorce in 2010. Lavigne wed Nickelback frontman Chad Kroeger in July 2013.

Hey, we've got a memo for you. Avril Lavigne is never (like, ever) growing up, at least when it comes to her two most recent singles. 'Here's to Never Growing Up' didn't mask its carpe diem intentions and celebration of being footloose and fancy-free. Its successor 'Rock N Roll' follows similar suit.
