On tonight's (July 19) season finale of the debut season of 'Duets,' country superstar Jennifer Nettles and her amateur singing partner John Glosson performed together for the final time, singing the ballad 'For Good' from the Broadway musical 'Wicked. It's a sweet, sappy and syrupy song, but it also played to the strengths of both these native Georgians.
On tonight's (July 12) episode of 'Duets,' the remaining amateurs performed twice -- once with their superstar and once solo. Jennifer Nettles, who still has two horses in this race, performed 'The Prayer' by Andrea Bocelli and Celine Dion with her "other" amateur partner John Glosson. For his solo song, Glosson tackled 'Bless the Broken Road' by country trio Rascal Flatts.
On tonight's (July 5) episode of 'Duets,' the superstars and their amateur singing partners were asked to perform standards, those songs we all know, love and want to hear re-imagined by contemporary and modern vocalists. Jennifer Nettles is the only superstar with two singers remaining, and her charges, J. Rome and John Glosson, are the favorites to win. Nettles decided to pay homage to Georgia, which is her home state as well as Glosson's, with a rendition of Ray Charles' classic 'Georgia on My Mind.' She was going for it with that choice!
Jennifer Nettles performed with her frontrunning 'Duets' partners on tonight's episode (June 28) of the show, where the voting will open up to the viewing public. The superstars and their amateur partners were asked to sing songs from the new millennium and of the past decade. Once again, Team Nettles prevailed, with both of her singers delivering rock solid perfs.
Last week on ‘Duets,’ Jennifer Nettles proved that she was an excellent talent scout with two great duet partner choices. This week, she has to prove that her choices have staying power with the classics. And, in her words, her first partner, John Glosson, “brought a gun to a knife fight” and confirmed her feelings that he’s the best singer in the bunch.
