30 Seconds to Mars have finally unveiled the video for 'This is War,' a clip that tries to encourage peace by depicting some of the horrors of war.

The video opens with a quote from H.G. Wells, "If we don't end war, war will end us," followed by actual footage of the military mixed with re-enactments featuring the band as army men.

Viewers are presented with a montage of clips in which guns are fired, buildings are blown up, and civilians are attacked by riot police.

It all leads up to a chaotic scene where a storm of armored tanks, helicopters and other military vehicles begin flying through the air, finally forming a pyramid in the sky.

Singer Jared Leto tells MTV the clip is meant to shake people up: "A lot of people are going to interpret this piece in a lot of different ways. And hopefully it will start some debates and some conversations."

'This is War,' the title track from the band's third album, came out more than a year ago and got to No. 1 on the Alternative Songs chart, but the video was delayed until now.
