In order to properly prepare for his hosting gig at the 2015 Emmy Awards, Andy Samberg locked himself away in a bunker for over a year and watched every television show ever -- then he spent his opening musical sequence listing them all off.

His Emmys monologue followed shortly after, where Samberg took a few well-deserved swipes at this year's grossest, fallen celebrities ("Between Bill Cosy, Jared Fogle and Robert Durst stealing that sandwich, not a good year for dudes who love hoagies. Get your house in order, Dagwood from Blondie."). He also poked fun at Hollywood's misguided, self-congratulatory pat-on-the-back regarding diversity ("But the big story this year, of course, is diversity. This is the most diverse group of nominees in Emmy history. So, congratulations Hollywood, you did it. Racism is over! Don't fact-check that.").

Samberg even touched on the fact that sexism is still alive and well in in the entertainment industry ("The wage gap between men and women hired for major roles in Hollywood is still an issue. Wait, I misread that -- the age gap between men and women hired for major roles in Hollywood is still an issue. Wait, I’m sorry, I misread it again, it’s both — still both.").

He also mentioned Donald Trump's bizarre run for the US Presidency ("I've gotta say -- sure, Donald Trump seems racist. What else?") and Paula Deen's foray into reality television ("Paula Deen is on this season of Dancing With the Stars, but I gotta say — if I wanted to see an intolerant lady dance, I would’ve gone to one of Kim Davis’ four weddings. It’s so ironic that she came out of jail to 'Eye of the Tiger' when you consider how many dude have boned each other to that song.").
