Billie Lourd Joins ‘Will & Grace’ As Debbie Reynolds’ Granddaughter
Billie Lourd will guest star in the final season of Will & Grace as the granddaughter of her real-life late grandmother Debbie Reynolds’ character.
The American Horror Story alum is set to play Fiona Adler, the niece of Grace Adler (Debra Messing), the daughter of Janet Adler (Mary McCormack), and the grandchild of Bobbi Adler, who was portrayed by Reynolds from 1999 to 2006. According to Deadline, the episode will see Fiona try to reconnect with her "cool aunt."
The actress confirmed the news on Instagram alongside a series of photos of her grandmother's character.
"I have watched and loved Will & Grace since I was (probably too) young. So getting to watch my grandma play Grace’s mom was one o’ the coolest things to happen to my young willandgraceobsessed self," she wrote in the caption. "Next week I get to play my real life grandma’s on-screen granddaughter on one of my favorite shows and there are not enough happy adjectives in the world to convey the excitement I feel."
“The episode is especially meaningful because of Billie’s relationship to the show,” Will & Grace co-creator/executive producer Max Mutchnick told Deadline. “We’re thrilled to have Billie. And best of all — she’s really good.”
He also shared a sweet tribute on Instagram, writing, "It's Hollywood royalty on the 'Will & Grace' stage this week. Billie Lourd plays the granddaughter of real life grandmother Debbie Reynolds. I loved Debbie, I loved Carrie and I love this apple who did not fall far from her trees."
Meanwhile, Lourd isn't the only celebrity cameo next season since the show also announced Ryan Phillippe will make an appearance. Demi Lovato was also cast in the role of Jenny, who Entertainment Weekly described as "a guarded gal who comes into the life of Will (Eric McCormack) in an unexpected way."
Will & Grace returns with new episodes in 2020.
