It's been a hot minute since we've heard anything from Cher Lloyd, the feisty former X Factor U.K. contestant who was signed to Simon Cowell's Syco Music following her stint on the singing competition. Her last album, 2014's Sorry I'm Late, was released two years ago... but the pop star is ready to get back into the fray: On July 15, she announced new music will drop July 22.

On Friday the pop star shared a short VHS-like video to tease her new song, "Activated," on Twitter. While the clip did nothing to reveal the sound of Lloyd's return — unless her new music era consists mostly of static — it has definitely done something to activate her fans, with many of her devoted Brats touting her return across the social media site:

Back in January, superstar music writer Jacob Luttrell (Kelly Clarkson, Estelle) revealed on Instagram that he was in the studio with Lloyd busy cranking out new tunes for her third studio album. He also teased that the two were working with Zedd.

Two months later, the pop star made the official announcement that #CL3 was on its way with a brief but sweet video message posted to her fans on Twitter.

After releasing her debut album, Sticks and Stones, in 2011, the "Swagger Jagger" singer achieved impressive crossover success in the United States with her bouncy single "Want U Back" in 2012. The bratty bop hit No. 1 on the Billboard Top Heatseekers Chart as well as No. 12 on the Billboard Hot 100, no small feat for a British artist making her debut.

Hopefully, "Activated" will help to re-activate the pop dynamo on the charts once more — after all, we've missed you Cher, and we're not ashamed to admit we want you back!
