Who wants to spend New Year's Eve cramped like sardines for hours in Times Square when you can spend it partying on Miami Beach with popular bands like Cobra Starship and Cee Lo Green? The second Miami Beach Music Festival has been announced for Dec. 30 - Jan. 1 at an amphitheater constructed along Ocean Avenue.

Billboard reports the event will also feature Gym Class Heroes, Pete Wentz, Ne-Yo, Boyz II Men, Jermaine Dupri, DJ Samantha Ronson and DJ Irie. The event has been greatly expanded to hold up to 15,000 people per night.

"We want New Year's on Miami Beach to be on people's checklist," says Shawn Garrity, president of Union Square Agency, co-producer of the event. "Everybody has that picture of Times Square [for New Year's], but we think being on a beach with people from around the world, dancing and having this great entertainment is unique."

The event is part of a partnership with the Orange Bowl, a college football bowl game in January. Festival tickets range from $64.20 for one day to $208.65 for the three-day pass. If you want to snag a ticket, visit Ticketmaster's official site.

Garrity says the event will be even bigger next year, when the Orange Bowl hosts the BCS title game. "In 2013 we'll have the New Year's festival and then when the national championship comes here we'll have another major event," he says.
