Close call! DJ Deadmau5, just about the hottest thing on the EDM scene in 2012, nearly set Provocateur, a club located in the Meatpacking District of New York City, and himself on fire on Friday, May 4. Yikes.

Deadmau5, last visible in the pop world when he engaged in a heated Twitter battle with Madonna, was performing a DJ set in NYC and debuted the new song 'The Veldt.' He apparently wanted to go big with the song's premiere and did so by lighting an airhorn, causing a spark in the crowd. Singer Ciara was in attendance, according to The New York Post.

Deadmau5, born Joel Zimmerman, tweeted about the near-mishap, posting, “Omg I actually lived through that . . . Nearly blew up myself and a buncha people in the booth. Pyros a b----."

You got that right, 'Mau5.

Luckily, nothing major happened. But things could have gone horribly wrong. Disaster averted! We're glad that everyone is okay. A fire in a club stacked with people is always a terrifying prospect. Lesson learned: Be careful when you mess around with pyrotechnics.
