Dylan O'Brien, star of 20th Century Fox's Maze Runner series—based on the YA books of the same name—was injured on the set of the third film in the franchise, Maze Runner: The Death Cure, while filming in Vancouver on Thursday March 17.

The film studio confirmed that the young actor, also known for his role as Stiles on MTV's Teen Wolf, was immediately rushed to the hospital following the accident. In a statement released by 20th Century on Friday March 18, the studio revealed, "Dylan O'Brien was injured yesterday while filming Maze Runner: The Death Cure in Vancouver, Canada. He was immediately transferred to a local hospital for observation and treatment."

However, details of the exact nature of his injury have yet to be confirmed. Some are reporting that O'Brien tumbled off the back of a train structure on set, resulting in a fracture, while others are alleging the 24-year-old actor was actually struck by a vehicle while filming a scene.

Production on the forthcoming Maze Runner sequel has been halted until further notice. The studio confirmed in a statement that "production on the film will be shut down while [O'Brien] recovers."

However, this injury isn't the first O'Brien, who plays main protagonist Thomas, has endured while filming the epic Maze Runner series.

In September 2015, the actor revealed to Entertainment Tonight that he sustained a minor injury while filming Maze Runner: The Scorch Trials, resulting in a splinter in his toe. "It scared me from sliding around, but I just started to do it again," he told the entertainment site.
