EXO Album ‘Universe’ Tops Billboard K-Pop Hot 100 Chart
South Korean boy band EXO is topping the Billboard K-pop Hot 100 chart with its new album.
The K-pop group dominated the chart ending Sunday with songs from its special winter EP, Universe, which debuted in December.
The title track, "Universe," ranked No. 1, followed by "Been Through," "Stay," "Fall," "Good Night," "Lights Out," and "Universe" (CD Version). Twice and Melomance rounded out the top 10 with "Heart Shaker" and "Gift," respectively.
The Korea Herald reported Universe topped iTunes album charts in 27 countries upon its release. EXO had postponed the EP's release from Dec. 21 to 26 following SHINee singer Jonghyun's apparent suicide.
In addition, EXO ranked No. 2 on a list of Spotify's most-played K-pop boy bands in 2017. Fans compiled Spotify stats into a chart showing BTS at No. 1, EXO at No. 2 and Big Bang at No. 3.
EXO debuted in 2012 as 12 members separated into two subgroups: EXO-K, which performed in Korean, and EXO-M, which performed in Mandarin. The group now consists of Xiumin, Suho, Lay, Baekhyun, Chen, Chanyeo, D.O., Kai and Sehun.
