Tarralyn Ramsey and Frenchie Davis were paired in the first battle of 'The Voice' tonight to keep their rightful spot on Christina Aguilera's team. The ladies doubled up to battle with Beyonce's 'Single Ladies (Put a Ring on It.)'

It was a classic David vs. Goliath, underdog vs. favorite standoff, simply because Davis has a wealth of performing experience since was an 'American Idol' contestant (and dismissed over a nude photo scandal) as well as a Broadway star in 'Rent.' Ramsey even said that she went and saw Davis on Broadway, so she understood from the get-go that Davis had a distinct leg up. It was a main event, that's for sure, especially since there were rumors that someone's family member attacked Aguilera post-performance and called security as a result!

During the rehearsals for Ramsey and Davis, Aguilera talked about preparing for songs and said, "I never worry about the words." That was a quiet, funny reference to her National Anthem flub at the Super Bowl.

Besides the obvious reasons, this battle was thrilling, since Ramsey's method is to attack a song, while Davis concerns herself with tone and pitch. While performing the song in the ring, Ramsey and Davis were not very complementary, but they certainly tried to outdo one another by reaching for the glass-shattering high notes. Aguilera told the singers to have fun while locking horns, and she said that they did succeed there.

Aguilera consulted with Sia and struggled to come to her decision, and ultimately went with Davis.

By the way, the attack-on-Aguilera was not aired, so we're still in the dark as to what happened.
