With the pinnacle event of the school year, prom, taking over McKinley High, the claws come out as Brittany (Heather Morris), Becky (Lauren Potter), Rachel (Lea Michele) and Quinn (Dianna Agron) deal with their individual struggles to make their dreams come true. All’s fair in love and prom as the cast of ‘Glee’ continues to say goodbye to old goals and hello to new ones.

‘Prom-asaurus’ opens with Rachel resigning to say goodbye to her dreams of stardom after her failed NYADA audition and instead focusing on the impending prom, certain in her conviction that you cannot always get everything you want. She runs into Becky practicing her prom wave, who is of the opposite opinion, specifically that all dreams are possible no matter how big, and Rachel tries to bring her back to reality to soften the inevitable blow of her non-election.

Meanwhile, Brittany is convinced by Principal Figgins (Iqbal Theba) to focus on prom since she has thus far done nothing else as an elected official. If she doesn’t want to be the last president McKinley has, she needs to step it up. With this in mind, Brittany belatedly meets with the prom committee and vetoes their idea of a castle in the clouds theme, seeing as clouds can’t support buildings, and instead replaces it with the classic theme of dinosaurs. Yes, dinosaurs, to celebrate the union of dinosaurs and cavemen. When the committee voices their concerns about the theme, she promptly fires them.

Over the announcements Sue (Jane Lynch) reads off the Prom King and Queen nominations, with Rick ‘The Stick’ Nelson (Rock Anthony), Brittany, and Finn (Cory Monteith) securing places as Prom King, and Missy, Santana (Naya Rivera), and Quinn taking the Prom Queen slots. Mr. Schuester (Matthew Morrison) tells New Directions that they will once again be performing at the prom and Brittany announces the dinosaur theme, complete with strict rules banning hair gel.

After seeing signs calling for Finn and Quinn for Prom King and Queen, Rachel lashes out at Finn, saying that the stunt embarrasses her and makes things feel like their freshman year all over again. Finn defends his position, saying it is the right thing to do for wheelchair-ridden Quinn. Unbeknownst to him, Quinn is at physical therapy, attempting to get her strength up so she can walk on stage when she wins Prom Queen. Becky’s bad attitude at not being nominated continues as she rages around the school and Sue tries to reign in her diva attitude.

Rachel sings Fergie’s ‘Big Girls Don’t Cry' with Blaine (Darren Criss) and Kurt (Chris Colfer), which is reminiscent of her current feelings, and the trio, all not wanting to go to prom for their own reasons, decide to hold an anti-prom. Santana points out to Rachel that this is merely another typical cry for attention. Instead of embracing the prom as a time to celebrate being together with her friends for one of the last times, she makes it about herself. Quinn is busy being equally self-centered, using sympathy for her situation to garner votes from her classmates.

On prom night, the gym is decked out in a scene reminiscent of ‘Jurassic Park’ and Brittany and the Cheerios sing ‘Dinosaur’ by Kesha, making the meaning more literal. Finn goes to locate Quinn and finds her standing, accusing her of trying to win the wrong way. He rails against her, telling her despite having everything already she is still willing to sink low enough to use her legs to gain votes, pulling him away from Rachel. At the anti-prom, events are pretty tame as Blaine, Kurt, Rachel, Becky, and Puck (Mark Salling) try to make the best of the situation.

Back at the prom, Santana sings ‘Love You Like a Love Song’ by Selena Gomez while Finn is yelling at Quinn to show everyone that she can actually walk. The altercation comes to a head and Finn leaves to go find Rachel, the person he realizes he should have been with all along. He arrives at the anti-prom and he and Rachel literally kiss and make up when she emerges in her prom dress. Finn convinces everyone except Puck and Becky to join him at the official prom, and they arrive and dance to the boys of New Directions performing One Direction’s ‘What Makes You Beautiful’.

Puck cheers Becky up by making cardboard crowns for them and dubbing her the Queen of the anti-prom and they leave for the dance together. Rachel meets Quinn in the hallway and apologizes for being mad at her, inadvertently making Quinn feel guilty for her vote garnering behavior. Puck and Becky arrive to much cheering, heads held high, and Santana and Quinn convene to count the votes. With Brittany not winning King, Santana no longer wants the title of Queen, and Quinn reveals she won Queen by a single vote. Having attained her dream, she no longer wants it. With her own pettiness eating at her, Quinn asks Santana if she wants to leave high school having made a difference.

The big moment finally arrives, with Principal Figgins announcing Finn as King and shockingly -- but not so shockingly to the viewer -- Rachel as Prom Queen. The duo dance to Berlin’s ‘Take My Breath Away’ sung by Quinn and Santana. Rachel smiles, rescinding her statement at the beginning of the episode and admitting that anything is possible.
