Gaga has proclaimed that ‘Born This Way’ is her freedom song -- a song fighting out against hate and ridicule, claiming that each of us was born in a different way and that’s OK.

The electropop song was eaten up by critics and fans all across the globe. In 2011, it landed at No. 11 on the Billboard Top 100 List, becoming the superstar’s third No. 1 hit... And for good reason!

Not only does 'Born This Way' have a fierce '90s-era dance-pop beat, complete with siren-esque synth and pounding bass, it also has a strong message that urges fans to understand and accept others. And even though Gaga has been accused of ripping the song off from Madonna's 'Express Yourself,' she rose above the criticism and managed to churn out one of the most popular songs of the 21st century thus far.
