Lil Wayne Tweets He’s ‘Good’ After Death Scare
Whew, everyone can breathe a sigh of relief as Lil Wayne showed a sign of life and tweeted that he is "good" after what was reported as a near-death experience. Rumors circulated that Weezy was suffering from violent seizures and that he was comatose.
After a terrible scare, with reports that the YMCMB guru was receiving his last rites and that he was on his deathbed with family members on site, saying their goodbyes, the rapper and skateboarding lover issued a tweet, confirming he is alive and well, and appreciative of the love and prayers everyone sent his way.
We've never been so happy to see a digital transmission from a musician!
The initial reports indicated that Weezy was put in a medically induced coma and in critical condition after taking an overdose of Sizzurp, which is essentially a codeine cocktail mixing prescription-strength cough syrup with sugary soft drinks, like Mountain Dew, and candies like Jolly Ranchers.
Despite the TMZ report, the rapper's friends were tweeting that he was fine and Mack Maine even said tweeted Weezy was watching basketball.
Birdman, the exec who runs Cash Money, retweeted the latter, essentially saying don't believe the hype.
Maine also had some choice words for TMZ's reporting skills, posting: "#F---TMZ."
So TMZ's sources were way off on this one. The mention of last rites has since been removed from the site, with a new update that his mother is on a plane to Los Angeles and no decisions about her son's health will be made until she arrives.
There has also been some suggestion that with 'I Am Not a Human Being II' on the horizon, due out March 26, Weezy was looking to generate a little extra publicity and awareness for the album. Nothing drums up interest like a death scare. The burning question is whether or not TMZ was in on the stunt, if it was indeed a stunt.
Regardless, after a breathless few hours, we're glad Weezy is still with us!
