Luke Perry’s Daughter Missing ‘Him a Little Extra Today’ Weeks After His Death
Luke Perry's daughter Sophie is missing her dad in the weeks after his unexpected death.
Sophie Perry shared a moving tribute to her father on Saturday. On Instagram, she posted a photo of herself and her father, writing that she was missing "him a little extra today." The 18-year-old included two yellow hearts in her post, which showed her father smiling while seated next to her.
This isn't the first time Sophie has spoken out about her father's death since he passed at age 52 from a massive stroke, according to Us Weekly. On March 5, one day after his death, the teen thanked fans for their support during her family's difficult time.
"A lot has happened in this past week for me. Everything is happening so fast," she captioned a picture of herself and her dad. "I made it back from Malawi just in time to be here with my family, And in the past 24 hours I have received an overwhelming amount of love and support. I cannot individually respond to the hundred of beautiful and heartfelt messages, but I see them, and appreciate you all for sending positivity to my family and I."
Sophie had been on a volunteer trip in Africa when the Beverly Hills, 90210 star had a stroke in his Sherman Oaks, California home. She said at the time, "It's something you aren't ever given a lesson on how to handle, especially when it's all happening in the public eye. So [bare] [SIC] with me and know that I am grateful for all the love. Just, being grateful quietly." Sophie is Perry's only daughter, though he also had a son called Jack.
Amid all the positivity she received from fans, Sophie faced criticism from trolls for not being public about her grief. She posted a selfie on March 11, writing that while she had received a lot of "positive" attention, "some people just can't be nice."
"I'm here to say that I did not ask for this attention, I did not ask to be thrown into some virtual spotlight, and while I don't mean to offend anybody, I'm also not going to cater to any one else's needs and beliefs," she continued. "So to those of you shaming me for my language and my wardrobe and most disgustingly, my grieving process, do us both the favor and just unfollow. It's a waste of both our time."
Sophie, her family, and Perry's co-stars and friends continue to grieve privately.
