More than a decade ago, Dragonette lead singer Martina Sorbara was releasing independent singer-songwriter fare like 'Eggs Over Easy,' a moody, midtempo piano ballad.

That's a far cry from where she is now, performing with her band on danceable synthpop gems such as 'Let It Go,' the first single from 2012's 'Bodyparts' album.

Sorbara has said of her group, "I like to call us basement pop, a bit of a grungy, homemade feeling... In reality we’re so manic when it comes to songwriting and it’s really hard for us to keep to one style or sound. Even in a song, let alone a record, let alone a whole album. It goes all over the place, but I know the heart of it comes from our love of pop music and pop arrangement. The songs have electronic tilt, but most of the songs could be sung with a guitar and drum kit and they could live and exist that way."

In addition to her Dragonette output, Sorbara provided the vocals for 'Hello,' a big hit for French DJ Martin Solveig, as well as 'Take Me Back to Your House' by Basement Jaxx and 'Fire in Your New Shoes' by EDM star Kaskade.
