Miranda Cosgrove is starring opposite first lady Michelle Obama in an upcoming episode of 'iCarly,' and now the 18-year-old is opening up about the experience.

“I’ve been doing the show for a long time and I usually don’t get nervous, but having the first lady on the set, I was really nervous,” the singer/actress tells the Washington Post. However, her nerves were calmed by the fact that the first lady is a "nice, pretty normal person."

In the show, Cosgrove plays the title character, Carly, whose father is an Air Force colonel serving overseas. Carly is excited for her father's return from active duty in the special episode, 'iMeet the First Lady,' but is disappointed when he's deployed once again and their reunion is canceled. The teen's friends, however, surprise her with a live chat during an iCarly webcast, which the first lady sees. She later praises Carly for being such a supportive daughter to her father.

According to the paper, Nickelodeon and the White House wanted to "show support for U.S. military families with a cameo by the first lady," while Cosgrove adds that the goal of the show is to “let (military) kids know how important their parents are.” Fans can watch the special episode of 'iCarly' on Jan. 16 on Nickelodeon at 7:30PM ET.
