Mysterious ‘Murder on the Orient Express’ Trailer: We’re All Aboard
This fall, a simple train ride from Paris to Istanbul will take a sinister turn as Murder on the Orient Express hits the big screen.
The classic Agatha Christie mystery novel featuring iconic genius detective Hercule Poirot has been adapted a few times for stage and screen, and it's been 30 years since there's been a big screen version of Poirot's most infamous (and celebrated) case.
And it looks like it'll be worth the wait — in the clip above, the movie seems to honor the original story without too much modern spin. The bad news is...the trailer music. I bet you thought I was going to say the bad news was Johnny Depp, but to anyone unfamiliar with the 1934 story, this film should serve as a bit of virtual comeuppance for the actor.
Anywho, Murder on the Orient Express is quite a mystery, and one that looks to be served well by one of the current masters of the pop culture period piece, Kenneth Branagh. As both director and star, he'll likely keep the twists and turns of the crime exciting for a new audience. Still, he'll have some tough shoes to fill, as David Suchet, the long-running Poirot for Britain's ITV (PBS in the US), left an indelible mark on the character.
Elsewhere in the trailer, you'll notice Dame Judi Dench, Daisy Ridley, Josh Gad, and a number of other stars eager to keep you guessing about who's got blood on his or her hands. As the tagline says, everyone is a suspect, so don't go letting your previous associations with these actors confuse you.
Murder on the Orient Express hits theaters on November 10.
