Nick Lachey and Vanessa Minnillo Explain Why They Wrote Their Own Wedding Vows

Prior to their July 15 walk down the aisle where they said "I do," Nick Lachey and Vanessa Minnillo agreed that they would write their own vows for their very special day.

"Vanessa and I have decided to write our own vows, mainly because it makes it more personal, more meaningful when the words you're saying to one another come from your heart," Lachey reveals in the upcoming TLC special, 'Nick and Vanessa's Dream Wedding.'

The happy couple took to the Internet to search for the best ways to prepare their own vows, all of which can be seen in the wedding special which airs Saturday night, July 30.

"It's something very special knowing these vows that I write to him and that he writes to me will never be said by anybody else," Minnillo added. "These were my words and my heart and soul that I'm giving to him and he's giving to me."

In an exclusive clip (which can be viewed below), Lachey also talks about his big duty for the planning portion of the wedding ... the honeymoon! "I'm a travel nerd," Lachey said, as he attempted to name off various locations while struggling with the pronunciations.

"Regardless of where we go, we just know we'll be there as Mr. and Mrs. Lachey," his bride gushed. "I'm really excited about that!"

Following their wedding, the Lacheys decided on a "mini-moon" to St. Barts, with plans of taking an extended honeymoon to the Maldives in the future when their schedules become less chaotic.

'Nick and Vanessa's Dream Wedding' will premiere Saturday night, July 30, at 9PM EST on TLC.
