Nicki Minaj Wins Best Rap / Hip-Hop Artist at 2011 American Music Awards

Nicki Minaj won the Best Rap / Hip-Hop Artist award at the American Music Awards, beating out two of rap's biggest superstars -- Lil' Wayne and Kanye West -- for the honor.

Minaj also set, we presume, the record for longest time spent to accept one's award at the AMA's, requiring assistance from a friend to get across the stage due to a complicated get-up that made Princess Diana's wedding dress look like a simple peasant frock.

Once she finally did make it to the podium, Minaj was all smiles and thank yous, crediting her friends and peers for convincing her to release the song 'Super Bass,' which she didn't think would work. Guess she's happy to be wrong about that one, huh?
