#MannequinChallenge Lifts Rae Sremmurd’s ‘Black Beatles’ to No. 1
The Chainsmokers and Halsey spent 12 weeks at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 with their smash hit "Closer" — officially the longest-running hit of 2016 — but the streak has ended this week.
Why? Because no one can resist a viral phenomenon.
Rae Sremmurd's "Black Beatles (feat. Gucci Mane)" just jumped from No. 9 to the No. 1 spot this week according to the chart organization's Hot 100 Top 10 round-up — and it's got a lot to do with the #MannequinChallenge, as the track quickly became the unofficial soundtrack of the movement. (Thanks, Rob and Blac Chyna!)
From Billboard: "'Black Beatles,' released on Eardrummer/Interscope Records, has received a big boost from its usage in viral Mannequin Challenge videos (including one by a Beatle himself, Paul McCartney, who joined in on the phenomenon Nov. 10 via a video posted to his Twitter account...'Black Beatles' has found synchs in a vast array of subsequent videos."
The StremmLife 2 track is the duo's first-ever No. 1 Billboard Hot 100 hit.
