Rapper Cassidy was arrested on Saturday in Hackensack, N.J. for violating his probation, and is also a suspect in one murder and two attempted murders in Philadelphia, Pa., Hackensack police Lt. Timothy Lloyd said.

The 28-year-old hip-hop artist, born Barry Reese, was arrested on a "high-risk warrant,' and Philadelphia police called him "armed and dangerous," Lloyd told NorthJersey.com.

Officers from the Hackensack Police Emergency Response Team and the police department’s juvenile bureau followed Cassidy from his house to a local convenience store. Upon leaving, “the ERT units moved in and conducted a felony motor vehicle stop" before arresting the "very surprised" rapper, Lloyd said.

In 2006, Cassidy was convicted of involuntary manslaughter in a shooting case and sentenced to 11 to 23 months in jail. The rapper is featured in the documentary, 'Rhyme and Punishment,' in which he discusses his 2005 arrest and jail time.

Cassidy is best known for his 2005 single 'I’m a Hustla,' which peaked at No. 8 on the Billboard R&B/Hip-Hop charts. He released his fourth album, 'C.A.S.H.,' in November 2010 in conjunction with Carmelo Anthony's Kross Over Entertainment label.
