In 2011, Sky Ferreira was set to become the next dance-pop superstar. Still a teen at the time, Ferreira had a record deal, a catchy buzz single called 'Sex Rules,' and an album on the way.

But when her record was delayed, Ferreira ditched the electropop for an edgier pop sound and began working with Jon Brion, Greg Kurstin, and Garbage's Shirley Manson. Now 20, the pouty singer says she's going for a more Blondie-influenced style instead of following whatever the latest trends happen to be.

Her debut full-length 'I'm Not Alright' finally drops in 2013, and the hype is already building thanks to the slow-burning 'Everything Is Embarrassing,' which she recently performed on 'Late Night with Jimmy Fallon.'

Ferreira had quite a childhood, having grown up around pop music royalty in Los Angeles. Her family was close to Michael Jackson and she got to know him fairly well. It looks as though some of the King of Pop's star power may have rubbed off on her.
