Timeflies get romantic in their first single from their upcoming debut full-length. In 'I Choose U,' the duo -- singer / rapper Cal Shapiro and Rob 'Rez' Resnick -- are appealing not just to partiers, but also to lovers.

The chorus is simple enough, with a soaring refrain of "Everybody needs somebody to love / And I choose you," which reverberates into an Auto-tuned fade. Unfortunately, that flourish hurts the track -- Shapiro's vocals sound better with less manipulation.

Still, the song is catchy and danceable, mixing pure pop with just enough electronic touches to also garner an EDM label. The band seems eager to cover almost every imaginable base, incorporating Shapiro's raps toward the conclusion of the song.

It's the type of track that wouldn't sound out of place at a house party -- or at a party that played house. Unfortunately, as previously mentioned, the electronic editing sometimes sacrifices much of Shapiro's raw talent, and at times, sounds like it's there just for the sake of being there.

'I Choose U' was co-written by Semi Precious Weapons frontman Justin Tranter, and his influence is all over the song -- but the duo still manage to make it sound like their own. Good luck getting this one out of your head ... or off of the radio. It has Top 40 written all over it!
