Toni Braxton was R&B's it-girl in the '90s, but unfortunately, her high-profile celebrity status has brought a slew of financial problems along with it.

Her albums 'Toni Braxton' and 'Secrets' had sales in the range of $170 million, but when all was said and done, the 'Un-Break My Heart' songstress only received a royalty check for $1,972.

Why so little money? Artists have to pay back their record labels for music videos, clothing, travel, etc. Apparently, Braxton also had a bit of an addiction to buying knick-knacks for her house.

As the songstress explained to '20/20,' "What happens is they give you advancement on the next record and then the next record. So you kind of stay in debt, in a sense."

Sadly, this wasn't the end of Braxton's money troubles... not by a long shot. The songstress had to file for bankruptcy a second time after she cancelled her self-financed Vegas showcase due to health issues.

Though the 'You're Makin' Me High' diva has a successful reality TV show, she was considering posing for Playboy for the money. "The women are beautiful. I thought about it," she said. "The money was tempting, but I'm thinking, I have kids, I have a son, I have boys. What are their friends going to say?" We say good call, Toni!
