Despite recent comments from Michael Douglas indicating otherwise, Val Kilmer is healthy and entirely cancer-free.

Kilmer refuted Douglas’s statements in a lengthy Facebook post last night (November 1), where he went into detail about a hospital visit he made two years ago that sparked rumors about his supposed poor health. He also said he and Douglas hadn’t been in contact for quite some time.

“I love Michael Douglas but he is misinformed. The last time I spoke to him was almost two years ago, when I asked him for a referral for a specialist to get a diagnosis for a lump in my throat, which prevented me from continuing a tour of my play Citizen Twain,” the Top Gun actor wrote. "I ended up using a team at UCLA and have no cancer whatsoever. I still have a swollen tongue and am rehabbing steadily.”

Kilmer then filled fans in on his current work projects before reaffirming his belief that Douglas likely had good intentions, despite his false comments.

"Whatever led Michael Douglas to speculate about my health, he's a loving and devoted friend to a privileged group of talented people around the world," he continued, "and I'm sure he meant no harm."

Kilmer also touched on his refusal to publicly divulge personal details, assuring fans he takes his health seriously.

"Some fans have mistakenly thought my silence about my personal issues meant that somehow I wasn't being responsible to my health, because of my reliance on prayer and Love. Nothing could be further from the truth," he wrote. "I hope this puts to rest any further concerns about my health by publications that have no respect for the truth."
