Vin Diesel has consistently kept the memory of his late friend and co-star Paul Walker alive in the three years since his untimely death. And while the Fast and Furious actor's passing has clearly impacted Diesel in a huge way, it’s affected his family, too.

As part of this week's “xXx Thursdays” -- a self-created segment where Diesel talks about his upcoming movie xXx: The Return of Xander Cage on Instagram -- the Fast 8 actor launched into a story about how Walker's death impacted his five-year-old son.

“My son -- Earlier this morning we were going over his birthday list, and he said, ‘I want Paul to come,’” Diesel recounted. “And then he said, ‘I really miss him.’ Paul came to his second birthday in London while we were shooting Fast 6.”

Considering Diesel's exceptionally close relationship with Walker, it's unsurprising his family would feel the weight of that enormous loss as well. Diesel has since taken several opportunities to pay tribute to his late co-star, putting together an emotional video tribute meant to honor Walker back in 2014 and delivering a touching speech about him and his family at the 2015 Teen Choice Awards.

Diesel even went so far as to name his daughter, born in 2015, after Walker.

“I named her Pauline,” the actor said in an interview with NBC reporter Natalie Morales. “There’s no other person that I was thinking about as I was cutting this umbilical cord. I knew he was there. And it felt like a way to keep his memory a part of my family and a part of my world."
