'American Idol' hopeful (and J Lo fave) Aaron Marcellus performed the Jackson 5's classic 'Never Can Say Goodbye' on tonight's episode (Feb. 28), which was the first live performance of the season. It's clear after Marcellus hit several high notes throughout that he will not be saying goodbye anytime soon. Unless of course the American voting public is deaf and wasn't moved by his thoroughly awesome performance.

Marcellus had a confidence and a comfort that he demonstrated while commanding the stage. The run of notes that he had his way with masterfully at the end of the song was impeccable, too. The hopeful made the song his own, shifting between '70s soul, R&B and funk and a modern smoothness. He may have sung, "No, no, no, no," but we were thinking "Yes, yes, yes."

Aaron Marcellus set the bar even higher for himself with this performance. He was the complete and total package.
