Skylar Laine brought honky-tonk to 'American Idol' tonight with a fiery version of Face's 'Stay With Me.' The song, originally written by Rod Stewart, perfectly fit Skylar's country twang.  She received universal praise from the judges for her exciting performance.

The Brandon, Miss. native, who just turned 18, detailed her family's recent financial struggles. Her family's general store in their small town has struggled to stay open and Skylar hoped to win 'Idol' to keep the store afloat. After tonight, the store has a very bright future.

Skylar's performance was full of attitude and she worked the crowd exceptionally well, seeming like she was born to do this. She rocked the audience with a sing-a-long during the last chorus, even ending the song with an exuberant jump. The adorable country crooner definitely made her hometown proud.

Randy Jackson called her the "rocking country girl" and said she was a mixture of Reba McEntire and original 'Idol' winner Kelly Clarkson. High praise, indeed. Jennifer Lopez interrupted Randy to surprisingly throw Tina Turner's name into the mix while describing Skylar. While we didn't see flashes of Turner in the performance, it was definitely electrifying. Steven Tyler ended the positive critques on a strange note, calling Skylar a "pistol," whatever that means.
