Avril Lavigne + Chad Kroeger – Pop Stars Engaged in 2012

2012's surprise twist came courtesy of Avril Lavigne and Chad Kroeger. Not only were they dating, unbeknownst to many, but they got engaged in August!

Lavigne and Kroeger started their romance in February of 2012, when the pair co-wrote a song for her upcoming album. Kroeger popped the question in August after the two had dated for a mere six months. (She hadn't even met his mother!)

No word on when these two crazy Canadians will get hitched, but Lavigne, who designs her own Abbey Dawn line, told PEOPLE that she would like to make her own dress or work with another designer for her wedding day attire. No word on whether she'll be designing Kroeger's getup too.

This will be Avril's second marriage. She got hitched to Sum 41's Deryck Whibley in 2006 when she was just 19 years old. The two divorced in 2010, and based on Whibley's Halloween costume this year, they may not be on the best terms.
