In a move that could allow for awkwardness at the Thanksgiving dinner table, Beyonce and her father -- longtime manager Mathew Knowles --  have severed their professional relationship.

Her publicist confirmed to the Associated Press that Beyonce will no longer be managed by the man who raised her, saying that the two have parted ways "on a business level." Beyonce was quick to point out, via a statement, that she is grateful for her father's work on behalf of her career, saying, "He is my father for life and I love my dad dearly."

"I am grateful for everything he has taught me," Beyonce also says. "I grew up watching both he and my mother manage and own their own businesses. They were hardworking entrepreneurs and I will continue to follow in their footsteps."

In light of those comments, it appears that the split was purely professional and not the result of a souring of their personal relationship.

It's always been in all in the family for Beyonce. Her father managed her career since her earliest days as part of the much-missed and multi-platinum Destiny's Child through her mega successful run as a solo artist. Her mother, Tina Knowles, is her partner in her ready-to-wear fashion line, House of Dereon, which was named after her grandmother, Agnes Dereon.

No word on who will take over for Mathew Knowles as of press time.

Beyonce remains hard at work on her fourth album, her first since 2008's 'I Am ... Sasha Fierce.' A new single could be released soon.
