Cate Blanchett Awes in Armani Dress With Appliques at 2014 Oscars [PHOTOS]

Cate Blanchett, pretty much the favorite for the Best Actress Oscar for her work as a pampered, privileged label lover in 'Blue Jasmine,' awed us with her blush Armani dress with appliques at the 2014 Oscars.

The celebrated actress, who has a unique and sometimes fashion-forward sense of style, having worn seriously stylish creations by Givenchy and Balenciaga in the past, donned a dreamy, sparkly gown sprinkled with appliques that made it femme without being fussy or frilly, since neither of those latter two "f" words apply to Cate the Great.

Cate sparkled and shone. You can clearly see the detail that went into this frock. Some critics felt the color washed her out, but neutrals were the colors du jour this year and Cate's dress was astoundingly beautiful.

The back was just as spectacular as the front.
