Christina Perri jumps onto radio once again, this time with her hauntingly beautiful new single, 'The Lonely.'

In this song, the 24-year-old seems to be slipping out of touch with the world around her, and even asks if lonely can take her place.

Perri's somber voice of pairs well with the piano, which grows louder as the song progresses. She sets the tone for the chilling, emotional song from the beginning line:

"2am, where do I begin / Crying off my face again / The silent sound of loneliness / Wants to follow me to bed"

Perri follows up the first verse with the chorus, a sad story of losing herself and becoming someone she no longer recognizes:

"I’m the ghost of a girl / That I want to be most / I’m the shell of a girl / That I used to know well"

'The Lonely' acts as the third single, following 'Arms,' from Perri's debut album, 'The Lovestrong.' Her 2010 single, 'Jar of Hearts,' grew to be a hit after it was featured on the hit FOX show, 'So You Think You Can Dance.' Just three weeks after the song led dance competitors on the show, Perri was picked up by Atlantic Records.

'The Lovestrong,' Perri's introductory album, is scheduled to hit shelves May 10.
