Fifth Harmony Set YouTube Record, Perform Destiny’s Child Medley on ‘Greatest Hits’
The ladies of Fifth Harmony are killing it...past and present.
As of this week, the girls — who are currently out on the road on their 7/27 Tour (have you seen the photos and GIFs they sent us backstage yet?) — added yet another notch in their collective belts: with over one billion views (!), their video for last year's Reflection Top 20 bop "Worth It (feat. Kid Ink)" just became the first-ever girl group video to reach over one billion views on YouTube.
They might be celebrating the achievement twice very soon: "Work From Home (feat. Ty Dolla $ign)" is already speeding its way toward becoming their second, with over 750 million (!) views and counting. (Good work from home, Harmonizers!)
While 5H stay slaying in this very moment, they also honored one particularly legendary, record-setting girl group from the not-so-distant past on last night's episode of ABC's summer music tribute series Greatest Hits: Destiny's Child.
"They've inspired us. We speak about them literally every interview — all the time. Every interview, they're like 'Who are your biggest inspirations?' We're like...Destiny's Child," the girls excitedly explained in the lead-up to their powerhouse medley.
As promised, the troupe tore into some of DC3's best known classics, including "Independent Women," "Survivor," "Bootylicious" and "Say My Name." Not only did the recurring theme of female empowerment fit in perfectly with the "BO$$"-y troupe, but those melodic riffs were a natural fit — their voices all sounded like buttah. (Bey, Kelly and Michelle would be proud, for sure.)
