Young star Charice has been given the honor of singing the theme song for the upcoming video game 'Final Fantasy XIII-2.' Her recording of 'New World' will serve as the game's theme in North America and most of the world.

The news could expose Charice's music to a gaming audience that might not be familiar with her previous hit songs and appearances on 'Glee.' The 19-year-old, who recently took part in the NFL's 9/11 tribute, has completed a new album, 'Infinity,' which will be released in Japan in October, with an American release expected sometime after that.

Japanese singer Mai Fukui will sing the theme, retitled 'Yakusoku no Basho,' on versions of the game in her home country. 'Final Fantasy XIII-2' comes out on Playstation 3 and Xbox 360 on Jan. 31, 2012 in North America and a few days later in Europe.

Portions of the theme song are featured in a short video clip showing scenes from the action-packed game.
