FKA Twigs Had Six Tumors Removed From Uterus: ‘I Was so Scared’
FKA twigs is recovering after having six tumors removed from her uterus.
The 30-year-old British singer said she's "healing" in an Instagram post Wednesday after undergoing laparoscopic surgery in December for fibroid tumors.
"the tumors were pretty huge, the size of 2 cooking apples, 3 kiwis and a couple of [strawberries]," FKA twigs told her 1.2 million followers. "the nurse said that the weight and size was like being 6 months pregnant."
"I tried to be brave but it was excruciating at times and to be honest I started to doubt if my body would ever feel the same again," she said.
The "Good to Love" singer accompanied her post with a video of herself performing a pole routine.
"I had surgery in December and I was so scared, despite lots of love from friends and family I felt really alone and my confidence as a woman was knocked. but... today whilst dancing with Kelly at the choreography house I felt like my strong self again for the first time in a while and it was magical," the star said.
"thank you precious body for healing, thank you for reminding me to be kind to myself, you are a wonderful thing, now go create and be other once again," she concluded.
Actress and World of Dance host Jenna Dewan was among those to react to the post.
"Amazing!!" Dewan wrote in the comments. "Sending you so much love and healing."
FKA twigs is known for the singles "Two Weeks" and "Pendulum," and last released the EP M3LL155X in August 2015. She split from Twilight star Robert Pattinson in October after two years of dating.
