Gigi Hadid Brings Two Backstreet Boys + a Catsuit to ‘Lip Sync Battle’
Gigi Hadid's appeared in music videos for Taylor Swift, Miguel, boyfriend Zayn Malik and her ex Cody Simpson. But her Lip Sync Battle matchup found her assuming the role of pop star for a night — and she enlisted two boy band legends for the task.
The Victoria's Secret model, who emerged as the victor against Teen Wolf star Tyler Posey, tackles a Backstreet Boys classic — watch the video above to find out which. And Gigi's not merely relying on her lip sync skills and a black vinyl catsuit to carry her through; Nick Carter and A.J. McLean are there with the best sincere-finger-point dancing and sassy McLean-style headwear two BSBs can provide.
Gigi also tackled the Ting Tings' "That's Not My Name," while Tyler charmed his way through a-ha's "Take On Me" and AMERICAN CLASSIC "Flagpole Sitta" by Harvey Danger.
While Joseph Gordon-Levitt's incredible "Rhythm Nation" performance raised the Lip Sync Battle bar when it comes to dedication — leaving Kaley Cuoco no choice but to use a real snake in her "I'm a Slave 4 U" number recently — Channing Tatum managed to get Beyonce herself for a cameo during his rendition of "Run the World (Girls)." Where is there even left to go with the mind-blowing LSB stunts? How will they wow us next, given that we'll eventually grow jaded watching these escalating feats of razzle dazzle? Isn't there already someone out there already, watching the teaser above while silently wondering why Gigi couldn't finagle an appearance from her buddy Taylor in addition to Nick and A.J.?
To paraphrase Whitney, it seems the children are our future. Spike and its Viacom sister network Nickelodeon are developing a Lip Sync Battle Jr. special for younger audiences, Variety reports. The special will incorporate a variety show element, and may lead to a full spinoff series.
"On the long list of wonderful surprises about ‘Lip Sync Battle’ is our family co-viewing,” executive producers Casey Patterson and Jay Peterson said in a joint statement. “‘Lip Sync Battle’s’ multigenerational appeal is our favorite part of the show and the whole ‘Lip Sync Battle’ family is very excited about developing a new music based, comedy variety format to showcase how much our ‘Lip Sync Battle’ kids rock! It’s all the fun of ‘Lip Sync Battle,’ only smaller.”
